Ambiance=5 stars for transporting me to downtown Tiajuana complete with surroundings and music. Service=5 stars for the servers' friendliness and courtesy, and the kitchen staff's attention. Food=5 stars for the portion sizes and excellent flavors. We played it safe with a chicken fajita salad & sizzling fajita combo, and couldn't be more pleased. Margaritas & fajitas flavored to perfection. We'll be back soon.
Excellent service consistent food quantity Quantity value Great ambiance for friends Service patient and friendly with helpful knowledge and recommendations of their food Go early First Come First Served
Great team. Great food. Great decorations. Located in a working class area of Honolulu, this is a place that - if transplanted in a more touristic area - it could be a hot spot. Only disappointment is the fact that... kitchen closes really early, as early as 8:30-ish. Because - now I'm speculating - the working class needs to rest for thenext working day, right? My favorite dish was the "tres amigos fajitas (chicken, beef and shrimp)"). Will check back on them to see if they are consistent. But for now... one of my favorite places in this area of town
I have yet to dine in here, as they're so often quite busy, but that says something! Their take out business is solid though, and the wait times are considerably quick given how crowded they can look inside. Unfortunately, I keep forgetting to take pictures of my food to share with you folks! But let me tell you, everything I have tried so far has been delicious! This last time, I got their California Burrito. It comes with a nice helping of Mexican rice and beans. Both options are tasty, but this day I went with the frijoles. I thought I was hungry, but all things considered, I only ate 2/3 of my plate. It's a testament to how generous the helpings are! I was more than satisfied. The burrito was really good. The steak was nicely well done, but not tough or dry at all. It was gently tender and packed with flavor. The other fillings served to be a good compliment, balancing out the burrito on its own, and the sides offering a good palate cleanser. I look forward to trying more of their food, and hopefully even getting to dine in and trying some of their notorious margaritas!
I tried this place once years ago and didn't really care for it. I thought the food lacked flavor and did not taste authentic . But I decided to give it another try and i was pleasantly surprised. I read previous reviews and it is true that it is a hit or miss here. I was not disappointed this time around. Started off with the nacho libre as an appetizer but tbh it was practically a main dish! the portioning was huge , chose carne asada as the meat and it had a lot of flavor which i liked. I would definitely order again. By the time I got to the main dishes i was practically full. I do wish they gave the Appetizer first instead of all the meals together but eh. I ordered a tamale which comes with your choice of chicken or pork , I opted for pork and it comes with rice and beans. The tamale was different from what i've had the masa was like bread and thick and crumbly , never had a tamale like that. The masa had a smokey flavor to it which i found pretty good. It had generous amounts of pork inside and the rice and beans were flavorful as well. I enjoyed it. The other dish ordered was a wet burrito choice of meat was carne asada and it comes with a salad on the side . The sauce lacked flavor and tasted kind of bland . The margaritas are very strong! I appreciated that. I ordered the guava flavor. Overall i enjoyed everything , the prices match the portion sizes .
I live nearby so I come here once in a while and I've always had great service and the food was always good. I guess based on reviews, it's a hit or miss on both. Been coming here since I was little so there's been a couple changes but the decor is never changed - Mexico. Came tonight (Sat at 6:30pm) and there was no wait, but the restaurant was full. Service was good. He checked up on us and took our food orders at a good pace. Food came out fast, maybe like 10min? We also ordered chips and salsa - chips were still warm so that's a plus. We ordered a taco salad, traditional tacos, tamale and combo #1. I didn't get a chance to take pics of the food because we were so hungry and it looked so good! I got the tamale. I've had it multiple times before and it was nice and thick and very hot. I highly suggest the combo because it's a little of one of everything if you can't decide. Like most Mexican restaurants, portion size are huge and will most likely have leftovers. Overall, I like this place. Not sure if I'm being bias because it's convenient for me, but I think it's just as good as other places.
Authentic Mexican food with great service. Big indoor space with a bar and full bar scene. Many options, tacos, burritos, nachos, salads, steak, fish, queso, etc. Chips and salsa and guac! Prices for meals start about $18/option and the food is well prepared and delicious. Great drinks. Sodas too. Everything seems fresh. Parking is available. Casual dress code. Keiki friendly. If you have trouble finding it, just look for the red building marked Mexico!
